I need a break

I’m nervous about how they’ll react.

I don’t want to look stupid if I need to try quitting more than once.

I don’t want the crew to make fun of me.

I know they’ll support my decision because they know how hard it is.

It’s not a problem. I’ve made my decision and it’s for the right reason.

It’s my life not theirs and I want to be fit and healthy.

Tell my buddies before my quit date so they know not to ask me for a smoke.

Take breaks in a new location with buddies who don’t smoke.

Take breaks with my buddies but chew gum, spit sunflower seeds, or drink from a water bottle while my buddies are smoking.

Go for quick walking breaks.

Make a firm commitment to myself that I won’t smoke during breaks.

Keep telling myself that I don’t smoke anymore.
